In a small town, a reckless nuclear power plant manager secretly disposes of toxic waste in a nearby forest, leading to a devastating trail of fatalities. A brilliant but inebriated power plant expert begins to track the radiation levels, only to discover more gruesome deaths. As the body count rises, a determined newspaper reporter and a local boy and girl team up to uncover the truth. Despite the danger, the townspeople band together to try and remove the deadly waste. However, their efforts are ultimately met with disaster, and it takes the intervention of the EPA and their heavy machinery to finally contain the catastrophe.
