Jeanne d'Arc's trial commences in 1431, with clergy members striving to extract a retraction of her claims of divine inspiration and confront her with accusations of heresy.

Giovanna, accused of blasphemy, prays in ecstasy as she faces the Inquisition court. Despite a friar's belief that she's a saint, she's sentenced to torture and branded a "daughter of the devil". Refusing to deny her faith, Giovanna faces a gruesome death at the stake, surrounded by devoted ladies who weep for her.
