I Can Only Imagine

In Texas, 10-year-old Bart Millard lives with his abusive father Arthur and mother, who eventually leaves him due to his father's behavior. After attending a Christian camp where he meets Shannon, Bart returns home to find his mother gone and his father's denial of his role in her departure. Years later, in high school, Bart and Shannon are a couple, and he plays football to appease his father, but a serious injury ends his career. He reluctantly joins the school's music class, the only elective with openings.
