Buck, a St. Bernard-Scotch shepherd mix, is stolen from his life of leisure and taken to Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush. As a newcomer to the dog team, Buck becomes the front-runner and learns to fight to survive. Eventually, he's taken by his last owner, John Thornton, to the Arctic Circle, where he depends on his primal instincts and sheds his civilized comforts to become the master of his own destiny.
