Biography

Larry Cedar is an accomplished artist, exceling in various mediums including film, television, stage, and voiceovers. He is particularly renowned for his portrayal of Leon Stalsworth, an opium addict, in the acclaimed HBO series Deadwood.

After earning his Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies, Cedar's life took an unexpected turn when he impulsively auditioned for and was accepted into the MFA Theater program at UCLA. This decision led to a significant milestone, as he won the Hugh O'Brian Acting Competition award for Best Actor and secured a one-year artist development contract with Universal Studios.

Cedar's breakthrough role was in the Disney movies, followed by hundreds of television episodes and feature films. Notable performances include his starring roles in Feds, opposite Rebecca De Mornay and Mary Gross, and Twilight Zone: The Movie, alongside John Lithgow.

For six years, Cedar starred in the award-winning PBS series Square One Television, and later appeared in 40 episodes of the Fox television series A.J.'s Time Travelers, produced by Gianni Russo.

As a talented singer, Cedar has portrayed iconic figures such as Hoagy Carmichael, Vernon, and Secretary Thompson in various productions. His notable stage credits include Hoagy, Bix, and Wolfgang Beethoven Bunkhaus at the Mark Taper Forum, They're Playing Our Song, and 1776: The Musical opposite Roger Rees.

Cedar has received nominations for two Los Angeles Theater Alliance Ovation awards for his performances in Anything Goes and She Loves Me, winning the latter for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

In addition to his on-screen work, Cedar is a skilled voiceover artist, providing characterizations for hundreds of commercials, cartoon series, and video games. He specializes in legal disclaimers, showcasing his speed-talking abilities.

As an avid monologist, Cedar has adapted and starred in several award-winning one-man stage productions based on the works of George Orwell, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and Franz Kafka. His upcoming production, The Trial, is based on a new translation by British playwright Howard Colyer.

Throughout his career, Cedar has demonstrated versatility, excellence, and dedication to his craft, solidifying his position as a respected and accomplished artist.
