A team of investigators and a local guide embark on a perilous quest to locate two missing teenagers, leading them to an abandoned military facility in the Lost River Lake area. Unbeknownst to them, their discovery sets off a chain reaction as they inadvertently release flesh-eating piranhas, bred for the Vietnam war, into the river. The piranhas make a beeline for a nearby summer resort's lake, putting its guests in grave danger.
