A mother struggling to cope with the loss of her son keeps his room intact, hoping her younger boy will grow up to be like his brother. Meanwhile, a young man released from juvenile detention returns home to a tense relationship with his father and a lonely step-mother. A college professor, still reeling from his brother's autism diagnosis, finds himself drawn to a student while separating from his wife. As the story unfolds, the connections between these characters and a tragic car accident are slowly revealed.
