Ben and Leslie Cash, a family of six, live off the grid in Washington state, teaching their children to be self-sufficient and critical thinkers. When Leslie passes away, Ben's father-in-law, a Christian, accuses him of abuse and takes over the funeral arrangements, leading to a clash between the two.
