In a quiet Toronto on the eve of the world's predicted end, people are going about their final day with varying degrees of urgency. While some are celebrating, others are working to ensure the masses are comfortable. The Wheeler family is hosting a Christmas party, but sullen adult son Patrick wants to be alone. His plans are disrupted when Sandra, Duncan's wife, appears at his doorstep, stranded and trying to reach her own home. As Patrick tries to help Sandra, they enlist the assistance of friends, including Patrick's best friend Craig, who has his own plans for the night. As midnight approaches, some people must improvise and others reevaluate their priorities.
