Raúl, a middle-aged unemployed man, becomes obsessed with imitating Tony Manero from "Saturday Night Fever". He lives in a shabby house in Santiago where he rehearses a show with other tenants. When Raúl witnesses the secret police killing a man, he steals the man's wristwatch and uses it to obtain glass bricks for the stage. He kills the junk dealer and steals more bricks, eventually attending a look-alike contest in a Tony Manero costume.
