In the fall of 1959, students envision their future in 50 years and create a time capsule. One student, Lucinda, writes a series of numbers, later revealed to be dates of disasters with death tolls. In 2009, the capsule is opened, and an astrophysicist, John Koestler, discovers the ominous predictions. As he investigates, he uncovers Lucinda's story and fears for his own son, who begins to hear voices and sees a vision of impending doom.
