Hillary Burns, a woman in her thirties, has always struggled to gain her parents' approval, particularly her mother's. To achieve this, she plans to marry the right man, Jason King, and bring him home to meet the family at their Thanksgiving get-together. However, her life takes a turn when she loses her job and Jason dumps her to focus on his career.
