An earthquake of unprecedented magnitude splits California into an island, shrouded in a perpetual dustcloud. Amidst the devastation, a group of survivors, including Air Force Captain Nick Preston and other military factions, band together in a war-torn junkyard, armed with weaponry from past conflicts. Their quest is to find sustenance, fuel, and other survivors, while navigating a treacherous landscape and avoiding a deadly plague that causes skin boils.
