The Christmas That Almost Wasn't

A beloved icon finds himself in a holiday pickle when he struggles to keep up with his rent and takes on a temporary role as a mall Santa to avoid financial ruin.

Sam Whipple, an attorney, receives a surprise visit from Santa Claus just before Christmas. It turns out that as a child, Sam wrote a letter to Santa thanking him for gifts and promising to repay the favor someday. Now, a grumpy soul named Phineas Prune holds the deed to the North Pole and demands back rent, threatening to evict Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the elves, and steal all Christmas toys.
