Biography

Rossano Brazzi, a renowned Italian thespian, distinguished himself as a prominent figure in both the stage and film industries. Throughout his illustrious career, he was twice married, first to Lydia Brazzi, with whom he shared a lifelong bond until her untimely passing, and subsequently to Ilse Fischer, his second wife, who remained by his side until his own eventual demise.

Brazzi's most iconic role, and one that cemented his status as a beloved figure among English-speaking audiences, was his portrayal of Emile De Becque in the 1958 cinematic adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific. His on-screen chemistry with the talented Mitzi Gaynor, with whom he shared the lead, has become an enduring testament to his exceptional acting abilities.

Sadly, Rossano Brazzi's life was cut short when he succumbed to complications arising from a neural virus on December 24, 1994, in Rome, Italy.
