After losing his job as a comedian, a man's life takes a dramatic turn when he reconnects with his son and an unexpected acquaintance at a cabaret, setting off a series of unexpected events.

A struggling comedian, Patrick O'Brien, is fired after celebrating his son's college graduation with a drink. He meets his son at a cabaret, where they encounter two fathers, Abel Finklestein and Sam Berkowitz, who form a business partnership. The partnership is shrouded in suspicion, with some believing they are involved in bootlegging. However, after their arrest, it's revealed they were importing molasses, and Miriam must agree to marry Sam to secure their release. This unexpected turn of events leaves Jimmy and both fathers feeling unhappy.
