A struggling comedian, Patrick O'Brien, is fired after celebrating his son's college graduation with a drink. He meets his son at a cabaret, where they encounter two fathers, Abel Finklestein and Sam Berkowitz, who form a business partnership. The partnership is shrouded in suspicion, with some believing they are involved in bootlegging. However, after their arrest, it's revealed they were importing molasses, and Miriam must agree to marry Sam to secure their release.
