Army Captain Colter Stevens wakes up in a teacher's body on a commuter train, with no memory of how he got there. As he tries to make sense of his surroundings, he discovers a bomb has exploded on the train. With the help of his handlers, he learns he's part of a special program that lets him occupy another person's body for 8 minutes at a time. His mission is to find the bomber and prevent a second attack, but he's also told he can't change the past and can only gather information. As he navigates his new reality, he develops feelings for his traveling companion Christina and begins to question the rules of the program.
