Jimmy Kelly's hot temper leads to job loss, disappointing his mother and fiancée Margie. After a series of misadventures, including serving subpoenas to a nightclub dancer and a gangster, Jimmy discovers that his fiancée is about to leave with his boss, L. Herbert Oakley, who is revealed to be the leader of an oil-swindle operation. Jimmy rescues Margie and prepares to marry her, but is then called to serve in the war.
