A television salesman, fired and feeling lost, impulsively moves to Butte, Montana, convinced it's the city of the future. He keeps his plans a secret until the last minute, causing tension with his girlfriend and ex. As he's wrapping up his old life, a painter shows up at their home and becomes infatuated with the girlfriend. She finds comfort in his arms when her boyfriend abandons her, leading to a declaration of love and a complicated choice between her two suitors.
