Aurora, a line cook, takes a job as a teaching assistant in a True Crime Literature class, much to her mother's dismay. Aurora's boyfriend Daniel also works at the diner where they met. Meanwhile, Aurora's friend Sally moves back home to save money and find a career. When a dead body is discovered in the diner's parking lot, Aurora and Professor Lindo team up to investigate the murder. They discover that the victim was one of their students, and the police are stumped. As Aurora and Arthur, a detective, work together to solve the case, they uncover a list of four suspects who all had a motive and opportunity to commit the crime. The investigation becomes complicated as new evidence emerges, and it seems like the suspects are constantly changing.
