In the early 1980s, Martin Asher travels to Canada, where he meets Matt Soulsby on a bus. After their vehicle breaks down, they rent a car and head to Seattle, but a flat tire forces them to stop. As Matt changes the tire, Martin comments on their similar height and, in a split second, pushes Matt into the path of an oncoming truck, causing a fatal accident.
