Val, released from prison after 28 years, is picked up by his friend Doc. However, their reunion is short-lived as Doc must kill Val by morning, as the local mob boss Claphands seeks revenge for his son's death. As they navigate a long and chaotic night, Val and Doc engage in a series of reckless activities, including visiting a cat house, breaking into a pharmacy, and helping a woman in distress. Despite the danger, they find themselves drawn to the charming waitress Alex at Doc's favorite café. As the sun rises, Val's fate is sealed, and he is resigned to his impending death.
