In this film, a solitary English woman battles illness while her wayward son drifts through life, shunning all contact with her. But when he's informed of her grave diagnosis, he returns home, rededicates himself, and joins forces with his mother to run their shop. As they work together, they both become entangled in illicit pursuits.
