A group of elderly villagers leave their quiet lives behind to become Home Guard defense volunteers, embarking on a series of comedic misadventures as they navigate the early days of World War 2.

In the quaint seaside town of Walmington-on-Sea, a motley group of elderly and hapless Home Guard members, led by the inept Captain Mainwaring, struggle to defend their community against the backdrop of World War Two. When a German scout plane crashes, the townspeople are taken hostage, and it's up to the bumbling Home Guard to rescue them.
