Zijah Sokolović is a multifaceted artist, born in 1950 in Sarajevo, who has made a significant impact in the world of theater and beyond. With a career spanning decades, he has honed his skills as an actor, writer, and director, effortlessly transitioning between various roles and responsibilities.
Throughout his illustrious career, Sokolović has worked in numerous countries, including Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria. His impressive repertoire has seen him take on various positions, such as director, professor, and artistic director. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of director at Theaterland in Salzburg, while also serving as a professor at Bruckner Konservatorium in Linz.
In addition to his academic and professional pursuits, Sokolović is the artistic director of the theater festival Dežela gledališča in Ljubljana and the artistic project leader for Dramatic society, Dramatično društvo. His work has not gone unnoticed, as he has directed plays in Zagreb and has gained international recognition for his monodrama "Glumac je... glumac... je glumac," which has been performed in twenty different countries worldwide.
