Zdenek Sverák, a dedicated Czech language teacher, had little time for his creative writing endeavors. He instead opted to write articles for magazines, short stories for children, and TV screenplays. In addition to his writing, he worked at the Czechoslovak Radio, where he contributed to an entertainment program.
In 1966, Sverák co-founded "The Theater of Jára Cimrman", a theater dedicated to researching the life and death of a newly discovered Czech genius. The theater still exists today, having produced twelve plays about this fictitious hero, with some people believing that he actually existed.
Since his first breakthrough in the entertainment industry in the 1960s, Sverák has written numerous screenplays and has appeared in many films and TV productions. He has also authored children's books and has been producing music for children, singing the songs he composed for them.
