Biography

William Forsythe is a dynamic and entertaining heavyset US actor renowned for his exceptional talent in portraying some of the most unlikable and downright nasty characters in films. His piercing eyes and raw energy on screen make him a formidable opponent for any hero, as he brings a unique menace to his roles.

Forsythe's acting career began with minor film roles and guest appearances in high-rated TV shows, including CHiPs in 1977, Hill Street Blues in 1981, and T.J. Hooker in 1982. He quickly transitioned to feature films, showcasing his versatility in a range of roles, such as a small-time hoodlum in Once Upon a Time in America in 1984, a bumbling jail escapee in Raising Arizona in 1987, and a renegade soldier in Extreme Prejudice in 1987.

Forsythe's comic book villain "Flattop" in Dick Tracy in 1990 and his roles in Out for Justice in 1991 and Stone Cold in 1991 showcased his ability to play edgy and nefarious characters. He then portrayed Prohibition mobster Al Capone in the short-lived '90s revival of The Untouchables in 1993 and continued to play complex, icy villains in The Waterdance in 1992, Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead in 1995, Gotti in 1996, and Firestorm in 1998.

In the new century, Forsythe has remained perpetually busy, appearing in a plethora of feature films, telemovies, and TV series. He has developed a minor cult following amongst film fans for his attention-grabbing dramatic skills, as seen in his performances in City by the Sea in 2002, The Devil's Rejects in 2005, and Halloween in 2007.
