Weng Weng was born Ernesto de la Cruz on September 7th, 1957, in Balacaran, a district of Pasay City, which is now part of Metro Manila. He was the youngest of five brothers and had a condition called primordial dwarfism, which caused him to be born at just two feet nine inches tall. He spent the first 12 months of his life in an incubator and was not expected to live.
