Biography

Vicente Parra began his career in the theater, where he had the opportunity to work with renowned companies and directors, including Luis Prendes and Amparo Rivelles, and later in small film roles. This laid the foundation for his future success in the film industry.

In 1949, at the age of 18, Parra made his cinematographic debut with the help of Ramón Torrado in the film Rumbo. This marked the beginning of his journey in the film industry, where he would go on to achieve significant popularity.

His breakthrough came in 1956 with the film El expreso de Andalucía, directed by Francisco Rovira Beleta, which brought him a certain level of recognition. However, it was his role as Spanish King Alfonso XII in the 1958 film ¿Dómde vas, Alfonso XII?, directed by Luis César Amadori, that catapulted him to stardom.

Two years later, Parra starred in the sequel ¿Dónde vas, triste de ti?, further solidifying his position as a leading actor in Spanish cinema.

Following his success in film, Parra resumed his theatrical career, creating his own company and participating in various productions, including Cita en Senlis (1963) by Jean Anouilh, Cara de plata (1967),Sólo Dios puede juzgarme (1969) by Emilio Romero, El amante complaciente (1969) by Graham Greene, and Hilo rojo, in which he played the role of Sigmund Freud.

As the 1970s began, Parra attempted to reinvent himself, taking on the role of a psychopath in La semana del asesino (1972),directed by Eloy de la Iglesia, and later reprising this role in Nadie oyó gritar (1973),also directed by de la Iglesia, and produced by Parra himself. Although these films were not successful, they marked a significant shift in his career.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Parra continued to work in film and television, appearing in productions such as Platos rotos (1985),La jaula de las locas (1977),Isabelita la Miracielos (1978),Isabel, reina de corazones (1983),La barca sin pescador (1984),El cianuro, ¿solo o con leche? (1985),Los ladrones somos gente honrada (1985),La decente (1988),La noche del sábado (1991),Suspiros de España (y Portugal) (1995),and Tranvía a la Malvarrosa (1997),directed by José Luis García Sánchez.
