Venkat Prabhu, the son of renowned director and music director Gangai Amaran, embarked on a multifaceted career in the film industry. Initially, he ventured into singing, gradually transitioning into acting, where he predominantly took on character roles rather than leading ones. His directorial debut, the summer hit Chennai 600028, garnered widespread attention, prompting him to helm the comedy thriller film Saroja, which became a box-office success. This was followed by Goa, praised for its engaging and innovative storyline, which also performed well at the box office. Currently, he is working on Mankatha, a project featuring Ajith Kumar alongside an ensemble cast. Prior to his directorial success, Venkat Prabhu had a brief stint as a lead hero in his father's film Poonjolai, released in 1997, although it failed to see the light of day. He also appeared in Agathiyan's Kadhal Samrajyam, where he played one of the lead roles, but the film remains unreleased to this day.
