Vasile Flutur is a renowned actor based in New York City, having made a name for himself in both television and film. Born and raised in Romania, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the prestigious National University for Theatre and Film in Bucharest, where he was awarded the esteemed Stefan Iordache award upon graduation.
Flutur then went on to earn his Master of Fine Arts degree from Brooklyn College, where he was awarded the Friars' Club Fellowship. He made his major network TV debut in The Blacklist, appearing alongside James Spader and Christopher Lambert, and has also appeared in the series finale of The Deuce, starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal. He will soon be seen in his first guest star role on ABC's For Life, starring Nicholas Pinnock.
Flutur has also had a successful career on the stage, making his Off-Broadway debut in Tamburlaine, directed by Sir Michael Boyd at Theater for a New Audience. The production was awarded "Most Honorable Mention" in the New York Times' "Best Shows of 2014." He is honored to have shared the stage with John Douglas Thompson. Additionally, he played the titular role in the world premiere of Jericho, written by Michael Weller based on Ferenc Molnar's Liliom.
Flutur is also known for his work in film, having appeared in The Kidnapping of a Fish, which earned him the Best Supporting Actor Award, Delenda, Hell House LLC 2 - the Abaddon hotel, and Far from Here. He is set to play the lead role in Snakeeater, a chilling neo-noir opposite Isaach de Bankolé, which is coming soon.
Since moving to New York City, Flutur has worked extensively with Piper Theatre, a company that has given him the opportunity to take on lead roles in several productions, including The Nocturnes, The Island of Dr. Moreau (Bobby Award),Frankenstein, Splitfoot, and We Should Have Seen the Lights Already. Piper has also encouraged him to explore new creative skills as a director, writer, painter, and educator.
Flutur is fluent in Romanian, English, and Spanish, and conversational in French and Italian.
