Brooklyn-born and borough-raised, Vagabond's journey began at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & the Arts, where he refined his creative skills before dropping out of The School of Visual Arts.
Vagabond's early career in film was marked by his involvement in independent black films, including Spike Lee's iconic "Do The Right Thing". This experience not only honed his filmmaking skills but also allowed him to develop his unique artistic and ideological aesthetic.
His debut production, the documentary "RICANSTRUCTING VIEQUES", told the powerful story of the US military's occupational abuse of Vieques, Puerto Rico, through a blend of interviews and live musical performance footage featuring Nuyorican punk rock band Ricanstruction. The film premiered to a sold-out audience at the first annual NY International Latino Film Festival and was later showcased at the Lost Film Festival 4.0 in Philadelphia. It has since been screened across Europe, Australia, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the United States.
Vagabond's collaboration with Ricanstruction continued, and he went on to co-found the Ricanstruction Netwerk, a revolutionary artist collective inspired by the Situationist International. Through this collective, he created murals, posters, pamphlets, and videos, and organized political marches, rallies, vigils, art shows, screenings, and protests.
His first narrative feature film, MACHETERO, starred Isaach DE Banlolé and explored the complex themes of violence and liberation through the story of a French journalist who interviews a Puerto Rican "terrorist" in prison. The film sparked intense debate and discussion within the Puerto Rican Diaspora and has been hailed as one of the most important and insightful underground political films ever made. MACHETERO has since toured international film festivals, winning awards in South Africa, Wales, England, Thailand, Ireland, and New York.
