Biography

Unati was born in Ithaca, New York, and spent her formative years in Amherst, Massachusetts, where she developed a deep connection to her South African heritage. This upbringing, surrounded by music and education, played a significant role in shaping her passion for social justice. Unati's family members were activists in their own right, and she has carried on this legacy through her work in various mediums, including theatre, television, film, and video games.

Throughout her career, Unati has demonstrated her commitment to showcasing diverse perspectives through storytelling. She co-hosted the girls' empowerment program "Girl Central," performed in Eve Ensler's "A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant, and a Prayer," and took on the role of Eve in the musical retelling of Adam & Eve, "Songs of the Fall." Her credits include "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus," "Seal Team," and the Primetime Emmy-nominated series "Her Story," which highlighted the lives of transgender women. Additionally, she appeared in the "University of Phoenix" commercial and Issa Rae's comedy short "Black Twitter Screening."

However, when she's not acting, Unati can often be found jamming out with friends, albeit with her limited knowledge of guitar. Music has always been an integral part of her life, and she finds joy in sharing this passion with others.
