Udhayanidhi Stalin is a renowned Indian actor and producer, particularly recognized for his work in the Tamil film industry. As the son of M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the grandson of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi, Stalin's foray into Indian politics was only a matter of time.
Stalin completed his primary education at Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai. He then pursued his graduation in Visual Communications from Loyola College, Chennai. Initially, Stalin began his career in the film industry as a film distributor, and in 2008, he founded the production company Red Giant Movies, which has since produced numerous successful Tamil films.
In addition to his work in the film industry, Stalin also ventured into politics and was appointed Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu. He is also a Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly member representing the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni Assembly constituency.
As a distributor and producer, Stalin has worked on films like Kuruvi (2008),Aadhavan (2009),Manmadhan Ambu (2010),and 7aum Arivu (2011).
Stalin made his acting debut with the film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (2012),also produced by his production company. The film was a commercial success, and Stalin won several awards for his role, including the SIIMA Award for Best Male Debutant, the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut - South, and the Norway Tamil Film Festival Award for Best Newcomer Actor.
Following his success, Stalin continued acting and has since starred in several films, including Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal (2014),Nannbenda (201),5 Gethu (2016),and Manithan (2016). In 2017, he worked on films like Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen (2017),Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam (2017),and Ippadai Vellum (2017).
Stalin has also acted in Priyadarshan's drama Nimir (2018) and Seenu Ramasamy's romantic drama Kanne Kalaimane (2019). He demonstrated his versatility as an actor by appearing in the psychological thriller Psycho (2020) and the political drama Nenjuku Needhi (2022).
Stalin is married to Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, the head of the lifestyle magazine Inbox 1305 and the director of the films Vanakkam Chennai (2013) and Kaali (2018). The couple has two children, a son named Inbanithi and a daughter named Tanmaya.
