Uday Raj Chopra, the younger son of renowned filmmaker Yash Chopra and his wife Pamela Chopra, was born on January 5, 1973, in the bustling city of Bombay, which is now known as Mumbai. As the younger sibling of film producer Aditya Chopra, Uday grew up surrounded by the glamour of the Indian film industry.
Uday began his journey in the film industry by assisting his father Yash Chopra on several projects, including Lamhe (1991),Parampara (1993),Darr (1993),and Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). He also lent a hand to his elder brother Aditya on his debut film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995),which went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of its time.
Chopra made his acting debut under the direction of his elder brother Aditya in the film Mohabbatein (2000),which turned out to be one of the top-grossing films of the year. He then appeared in the lead role in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002) and made a cameo appearance in Mujhse Dosti Karoge (2002). Chopra has also acted in films produced by other banners, such as Supari (2003) and Charas (2004).
One of Chopra's most notable performances was in the role of Ali Akbar Fateh Khan in Dhoom (2004),which was one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of the year. He then starred in the lead role in Neal 'N' Nikki (2005) and reprised his role in the sequel Dhoom 2 (2006). Chopra also played the lead role in Pyaar Impossible (2010),which was written and produced by him for Yash Raj Films. He also appeared in Dhoom 3 (2013) alongside Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan.
After a successful career as an actor, Chopra decided to focus on film production and direction, and he quit acting in 2014.
