Tyreese Burnett, a native of Dayton, Ohio, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Radio & Television from Central State University. He was one of six students selected from 300 college graduates across the U.S. to participate in Turner Entertainment's T-2000 Program in Atlanta, Georgia.
Upon completing the program, Tyreese was hired as a Freelance Producer at Turner Classic Movies. In 1993, he began his radio career as "DJ T Smooth" on WCSU 88.9 FM in Ohio, earning the prestigious 1994 Black College Radio Station of the Year Award.
Tyreese's success in radio led to opportunities in acting, and he was signed by a leading talent agency to represent him for Film, TV, Commercial, Print, and Voice-Over work. He appeared in several industrials, voice-overs, and local commercials, including spots for Harcourt Horizons, Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola, and Bell South.
In 1999, Tyreese's breakthrough role came as a Titan Football player in Walt Disney Pictures' "Remember the Titans" starring Denzel Washington. He also appeared in Steven Spielberg's blockbuster "Minority Report" starring Tom Cruise and 20th Century Fox's "Drumline" starring Nick Cannon and Orlando Jones.
Tyreese relocated to Los Angeles in 2002 to further his career, appearing in NBC's "Kingpin," MTV's "Neptunes remix of the Rolling Stones' 'Sympathy for the Devil' music video," and several national commercials, including two Uncle Ben campaigns.
In addition to his on-camera work, Tyreese has also lent his voice to several projects, including the Animated Nickelodeon Series Pilot "Eggheads" and MTV2's "Celebrity Deathmatch." He developed the Multimedia Company TyBu Studios, which collaborated with Kickscream Entertainment to produce the short film "Jesus' Secretary."
Tyreese has continued to work as a Producer, Writer, and Actor, serving as Executive Producer, Producer, Writer, and Actor on the short film "Jesus' Secretary," which was featured in several film festivals, including The Hollywood Film Festival and London Film Festival.
In 2010, Tyreese joined Stapletoon Studios as a Producer, working on projects such as "The Slimbones" and "Tic Tak N' Toe." He has also served as Art Director and Production Manager for several projects, including "Privacy Policy," "Monster Hour," "Love and Other Four Letter Words," "Roxanne Reese - Me & My Shadow," and "Roxanne Reese - Portraits of Love."
