Biography

Tony Vincent calls New York City home, but his roots are deeply planted in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the music of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones was a constant presence throughout his youth. As a young teenager, Vincent's songwriting was heavily influenced by the likes of Depeche Mode, New Order, and Tears for Fears, laying the groundwork for his future musical endeavors.

During his university days, Vincent took the initiative to start a makeshift record company out of his dorm room, recording a five-song EP that ultimately led to a recording contract with EMI records. This marked the beginning of his solo career, which saw the release of two albums, Tony Vincent and One Deed, both of which produced six number one radio hits.

However, Vincent's career took an unexpected turn in 1998 when he relocated to New York City to continue his recording career. He joined the cast of RENT, initially as part of the first national tour, and later made his Broadway debut in the New York production in 1999. His subsequent roles included Simon Zealotes in Andrew Lloyd Webber's remake of Jesus Christ Superstar and Judas Iscariot in the same production's Broadway revival.

In 2002, Vincent originated the role of Galileo Figaro in Queen's smash hit We Will Rock You, which premiered in London's West End. He also had the opportunity to front the band on several occasions, including a performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" at Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee concert, which was attended by over 1 million people and broadcast to a global audience of over 200 million viewers.

In 2004, Vincent opened the North American premiere of We Will Rock You in Las Vegas, a role he reprised two years later. During this time, he continued to write and released the EP A Better Way, produced by Adam Anders, in 2008.

In 2009, Vincent returned to Broadway, originating the role of St. Jimmy in Green Day's American Idiot. His subsequent appearance on the second season of NBC's reality singing competition, The Voice, solidified his status as a talented vocalist, as he was selected to be on "Team Cee Lo" and wowed audiences with his final performance of The Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams."

After a decade of writing, recording, and mixing, Vincent released his highly anticipated studio project, In My Head, through iTunes and CD Baby on July 10th, 2012. He continues to write for future projects, both as a solo artist and under the band moniker Mercer.
