Tom Yi has led a life of international flair, having resided in four countries across three continents. His formative years were spent in the picturesque South Bay area of Southern California.
Prior to his collegiate endeavors, Tom attended Denver University before transferring to Loyola Marymount University (LMU).
Throughout his illustrious career, Tom has accumulated an impressive array of credits, including numerous regional and national commercials, as well as roles in episodic television. One of his most notable experiences was a recurring role as Detective Rodriguez on FX's The Shield in 2002.
Tom's work has also included a small yet memorable role on The West Wing in 1999, where he received valuable career advice from the esteemed Martin Sheen.
Other notable appearances on comedy series include Monk in 2002, The Office in 2005, Men of a Certain Age in 2009, and season four of Arrested Development in 2003.
In addition to his television credits, Tom has also made a mark in the world of comedy films, with roles in Senior Skip Day in 2008, Bridesmaids in 2011, directed by Paul Feig, and This Is 40 in 2012, directed by Judd Apatow.
In 2013, Tom took a departure from his comedic roots and played the role of Mr. Cali in the science fiction film The Purge, written and directed by James DeMonaco, starring Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey.
Tom's nickname, "Yom Ti," was bestowed upon him by The Los Angeles Times after they misprinted his name in an article. His family and friends often affectionately refer to him by this unique moniker.
Tom's high school friend and college roommate, writer, director, and producer Jim Praytor, is responsible for creating the innovative transitions for the hit television sitcom Home Improvement, starring Tim Allen.
In a notable commercial appearance, Tom played the role of a character who asks, "Hey, Bob, did you lose weight?" in a Viagra commercial.
