Tom Thon, a man whose life has been shaped by his diverse experiences, was born in Peoria, Illinois, and relocated to New York in 1948. Following his high school education, he joined the United States Air Force and served in the Central Highlands of Vietnam in 1966, where he spent a significant portion of his early adult life.
Upon completing his military service, Tom attended New York Tech, where he studied Industrial Engineering, and subsequently spent seven years as a quality engineer in the Space and Defense industry. His professional journey continued with a stint as a Division Director for United Way of Long Island.
However, it was his involvement in community theater that truly sparked his passion for acting. In 1980, he took on the role of Ruckly in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest with The Hempstead Repertory Theatre, an experience that profoundly impacted him and ultimately led him to join the acting union and pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Throughout the next decade, Tom worked as an extra in several notable films, including Silent Madness (1984),Prizzi's Honor (1985),and Last Exit to Brooklyn (1984),under the direction of renowned filmmakers such as Simon Nuchtern, John Houston, and Uli Edel. He also had a brief stint as Rae Woodard's Butler on the soap opera Ryan's Hope and studied with esteemed acting coaches Aaron Frankel, Herbert Berghoff, and Joe Daly at HB Studios on Bank Street.
In addition to his work in film and television, Tom worked a season at the New York City Opera, further broadening his artistic horizons. Today, he is a dedicated and passionate actor, living a life that is true to his artistic spirit.
