Tom Ropelewski has had a multifaceted career in the film and television industry, showcasing his talents as a writer, producer, and director.
He made his feature directorial debut with the comedy MADHOUSE, released by Orion Pictures, starring John Larroquette and Kirstie Alley. His other notable film credits include LOVERBOY, THE KISS, LOOK WHO'S TALKING NOW, and THE NEXT BEST THING.
In addition to his work in feature films, Ropelewski has also ventured into documentary filmmaking. He produced and directed the documentary CHILD OF GIANTS: My Journey with Maynard Dixon and Dorothea Lange, which has been screened globally on public television, at film festivals, colleges, and museums.
He has also produced and directed two documentaries focusing on Bridges Academy, a school in Los Angeles dedicated to understanding and educating highly gifted students with learning differences. The documentaries, 2e: Twice Exceptional (2015) and its sequel 2e2: Teaching the Twice Exceptional (2018),have received numerous awards, including "Best of Festival - Documentary Feature" at the Richmond International Film Festival, "Audience Choice - Best Feature" at the Silver Springs International Film Festival, "Best Social Benefit Documentary" at the Eugene International Film Festival, and "Special Jury Prize - Inspiring Film Award" at the Awareness Festival in Los Angeles.
Ropelewski serves on the Board of Trustees of Bridges Academy and resides in Berkeley, California, where he is married to screenwriter Leslie Dixon, known for her work on MRS. DOUBTFIRE, HAIRSPRAY, and LIMITLESS.
Currently, Ropelewski is involved in producing and managing the 2e Center's growing video archive of interviews with pioneers in the field of twice-exceptional education and educational workshop materials.
