Biography

Tom Hollander was born as the second child of educated parents, both teachers. He grew up in Oxford, UK, where he developed a love for acting at the Dragon School. His influential teacher, Andrew Roberts, encouraged him to pursue his passion, and he won the title role in "Oliver" during his time at Abingdon.

After winning a place in the National Youth Theatre, Hollander continued his studies and appeared in various productions, including "The Leaving of Liverpool" and "John Diamond" for the BBC. He also worked with director Sam Mendes on several projects, including "Cyrano de Bergerac" and "The Cherry Orchard".

Upon graduation, Hollander was disappointed to find that he didn't gain entry to drama school, but he didn't let that deter him from pursuing his dreams. He went on to appear in several films, including "True Blue" and "Some Mother's Son", and won several awards for his performances, including an Ian Charleson Award for his turn as Witwould in "The Way of the World".

Hollander's career has featured a number of memorable gay roles, including "Bedrooms and Hallways" and "The Judas Kiss". He has also appeared in several films, including "Gosford Park", "The Lost Prince", and "Land of the Blind".
