Toby Stephens embarked on his acting career as a stagehand at the renowned Chichester Festival Theatre, where he had the unique opportunity to participate in end-of-season productions orchestrated by the theatre's crew. In his relatively brief yet illustrious professional career, he has already achieved significant recognition, claiming the prestigious Sir John Gielgud Prize for Best Actor and the Ian Charleson Award for his remarkable performance in the title role of "Coriolanus" at the esteemed Royal Shakespeare Company in 1994. His impressive repertoire at the RSC includes notable productions such as "Measure for Measure", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Antony and Cleopatra", "Wallenstein", "All's Well That Ends Well", and "Unfinished Business". Additionally, Stephens took center stage in Peter Hall's production of "Tartuffe" at the Aldwych Theatre and has recently completed filming for "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" in 1996. His television appearances are equally impressive, featuring notable roles in "A View from the Bridge" in 2012 and "The Camomile Lawn" in 1992. Furthermore, he made his screen debut in Sally Potter's critically acclaimed film "Orlando" in 1992.
