TJ Hassan's early life was marked by a series of relocations to various cities overseas, a nomadic existence that finally came to an end in 1993 when he settled in the United States.
It was in 2008 that TJ's career received a significant boost when Tony Award-winning director Jerry Zaks cast him in the biopic Who Do You Love, a film that told the story of American blues musician Lonnie Johnson. TJ's performance in the title role, opposite Alessandro Nivola and Chi McBride, earned him widespread recognition and acclaim.
Following his success in Who Do You Love, TJ landed a recurring role on the popular Lifetime original series Army Wives, a television show that explored the lives of military families. He also appeared in a number of other films and television shows, including Lottery Ticket and For Colored Girls, both released in 2010.
