Biography

Tin Pang is a renowned film and television director, celebrated for crafting diverse stories that reflect contemporary Australia, deeply rooted in his experiences growing up as an Asian-Australian. His body of work encompasses a wide range of genres, from irreverent comedy to intimate drama, with a strong focus on performance and the portrayal of unique characters.

Tin's short films, including The Pale Moonlight and Mother, Child, have garnered international recognition, screening at esteemed festivals worldwide, such as the Melbourne International Film Festival, Flickerfest, St Kilda Film Festival, World-Fest Houston, HollyShorts, and Fantasia. In 2017, Mother, Child received the prestigious ATOM Award for Best Short Fiction and a Silver Remi Award at World-Fest Houston. That same year, Tin was invited to participate in the Melbourne International Film Festival's Accelerator Lab for emerging talent.

In 2018, Tin completed a Director's Attachment with director Catherine Millar on the acclaimed television series A Place To Call Home, broadcast on Foxtel. In 2021, Tin was selected as one of five directors to take part in the Equity Foundation's Screen Diversity Showcase, resulting in the short film Radical Honesty. The film went on to screen at the Peninsula Film Festival, Gold Coast International Film Festival, Heart of Gold Film Festival, and Short Com Film Festival.

Since 2017, Tin has worked as an Assistant Director on various productions, including Ladies In Black, Home and Away, Totally Completely Fine, Last King Of The Cross, and The Artful Dodger. In 2022, Tin began working as a Director on Home and Away after completing a Director's Attachment with director Ian Watson. With his extensive on-set experience, keen eye for authentic storytelling, and passion for working with actors, Tin embodies a holistic and collaborative approach to navigating the filmmaking process.

Tin is actively developing a number of original projects, including a television dramedy series that explores diversity representation, and a romantic comedy feature.
