Tim Novotny is a multifaceted American creative professional, hailing from Ellington, New York, who has made a significant impact in the film industry as an actor, writer, composer, and director.
Novotny's journey in the film industry began as a music composer while pursuing a part-time acting career at Kent State University's theatre program from 2008 to 2012. During this period, he composed several soundtracks for local independent films in northeast Ohio, including Maurice Thomas' (aka J. Starr) Urban Cannibal Massacre (aka Meat The Jones).
Following the conclusion of his writing scholarship at KSU, Novotny decided to bring his written stories to life on the big screen. As a self-taught editor and cameraman, he started shooting music videos for local artists, which ultimately led him to create two 32-minute short films titled Twisted Fate and Syndrome.
Novotny's breakthrough came when he won three awards for his short film Sonny's Guest at the 48 Hour Horror Film Competition (Cleveland),which inspired him to begin production on his first feature film, Vile Prey. The film premiered at the Nightmares Film Festival in Columbus, Ohio in 2016 and received a nomination for Best Ohio Feature.
In addition to his work as a director, Novotny has also made a name for himself as a composer, winning the Marshell Hawkins Award for Best Score in a Feature Film at the Idyllwild International Film Festival (2018) for the motion picture Dark Iris.
Today, Novotny continues to make his mark in the film industry as the CEO and producer of his company, The Novotarian Syndicate, which has become a prominent player in the world of cinema.
