Biography

Born in the Peach State of Georgia, Byrd acquired a solid foundation in education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Morris Brown College. This educational backdrop served as the perfect springboard for his future pursuits in the world of dance, as he went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree in dance from the prestigious California Institute of the Arts. Byrd's impressive stage presence has been showcased in numerous regional productions, including the San Diego Repertory Theater's award-winning performance of "Spunk", which garnered critical acclaim. His extensive repertoire also includes starring roles in "Home" by Samm-Art Evans, "Two Trains Running", "The Piano Lesson", and "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" at the Alliance Theater. Additionally, Byrd has made memorable appearances in "Flyin' West" at the Indiana Repertory, "Hamlet", and "Miss Evers' Boys". Furthermore, his impressive range has been demonstrated through his performances in multiple productions of "Flyin' West" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Long Wharf Theater.
