Sujit Kumar, born Shamsher Bahadur Singh on June 26, 1934, in Benares, British India, was a renowned actor and producer who spent over four decades in the Hindi-language film industry. He is particularly famous for his roles in the films Aradhana (1969),Ittefaq (1969),and Dharam Veer (1977).
As a producer, Sujit is credited with producing several films, including Anubhav (1986),Asmaan Se Ooncha (1989),and Khel (1992). Furthermore, he was regarded as the first superstar of Bhojpuri films.
Sujit was married to Kiran Singh, with whom he had a son, Jatin Kumar, and a daughter, Henna Nathani. Unfortunately, Sujit passed away on February 5, 2010, in Mumbai, India.
What is less well-known is that Sujit was part of the esteemed Varma family, which has been a significant force in the Bollywood industry for over seven decades. The family's involvement in the film industry began in the late 1940s and has continued into the 2020s.
Sujit's connection to the Varma family was through his marriage to Kiran Singh, the daughter of Santram Varma, a founder of Varma Films and the patriarch of the Varma family.
