Subhash Ghai is a renowned Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter who has been active in the Bollywood industry since 1976. He is known for his grandiose and flamboyant style of filmmaking, which has earned him the nickname "The Showman." Ghai has directed some of the most iconic and successful films in Indian cinema, including "Karz" (1980),"Hero" (1983),"Meri Jung" (1982),"Karma" (1986),"Ram Lakhan" (1989),and "Khalnayak" (1993).
Ghai started his career with the film "Kalicharan" (1976),which was rejected seven times before it was finally released. However, his next film, "Vishwanath" (1978),was a moderate success, and it was his third film, "Karz" (1980),that brought him national recognition. The film's success was followed by "Hero" (1983),which established Jackie Shroff as a leading actor and Meenakshi Seshadri as a top heroine.
