Stewart Thorndike is a multifaceted creative force, whose directorial debut, the feature film Lyle, garnered widespread critical acclaim at the esteemed Outfest 2014, where the film's lead actress, the talented Gaby Hoffmann, was awarded the Grand Jury Prize for Best Actress.
As a writer and director, Thorndike is currently developing two additional female-driven psychological horror films, The Stay and Daughter, which will collectively form a trilogy alongside Lyle. This ambitious project showcases Thorndike's commitment to crafting thought-provoking and unsettling cinematic experiences that explore the complexities of the human psyche.
Thorndike's educational background is equally impressive, having earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing from the prestigious New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Furthermore, she has been selected as a fellow for the San Francisco Film Society's inaugural Women Filmmaker Fellowship, a program specifically designed to support and empower women in the genre of filmmaking.
