He began his journey in the South African film industry before making a significant impact on the international stage with his work on the International Emmy award-winning documentary "Gerrie & Louise" for the CBC in 1997.
As a director, Steven has amassed an impressive portfolio, having worked on numerous projects for esteemed networks such as the History Channel and Discovery Channel. His critically-acclaimed documentary "The Last Just Man" won over fourteen international awards, cementing his reputation as a master storyteller.
Steven has also written, directed, and produced films for both the CBC and PBS, demonstrating his versatility and range as a creative force.
In addition to his documentary work, Steven has written and directed six films for Barna-Alper Productions, including "Box Car Rebellion", "Doctor's Strike", "The Last Just Man", "The Anglo Boer War", and "The Dark Years".
Currently, Steven is penning a screenplay for a feature film based on the book "The Bang Bang Club", which he will also direct, further solidifying his position as a leading figure in the world of film.
